The subject of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) has earned the 2nd place in the QS World University Rankings by Subject in 2025. This remarkable achievement further solidifies HKU's status as one of the leading institutions in dentistry worldwide. The latest ranking not only reaffirms HKU Dentistry's strong commitment to academic excellence but also highlights its consistently stellar performance. Notably, HKU Dentistry has impressively maintained a top-three global ranking in nine out of the past 11 years (2015 – 2025). HKU Dentistry's outstanding achievement in the QS Rankings is a testament to being a reputable global leader in dentistry and oral healthcare profession.
Professor Lijian Jin, Acting Dean of the HKU Faculty of Dentistry, expresses his immense pride and gratitude towards the dedicated faculty members, students, and alumni. "Securing a top-two position this year is a testament to the hard work and great dedication of our entire community. Our continuous presence in the top three rankings reflects Faculty’s strong commitment to excellence in teaching, innovative research, knowledge exchange and high-quality oral healthcare. I extend my deepest gratitude to our colleagues, students, and alumni for their relentless efforts in nurturing the next generation of oral healthcare professionals and advancing the field of oral sciences globally."
Professor Jin also emphasises the importance of collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Prince Philip Dental Hospital (PPDH). "Our success is built on close collaboration with different partners regionally, nationally and internationally. This prestigious honour is shared with PPDH, whose enormous support and cooperation have been invaluable in our journey towards excellence."
Looking ahead, Professor Jin is excited about the emerging opportunities and new developments for further growth at HKU. "The Faculty’s success is also attributed to our robust academic community and landscape, which include a flourishing number of young talents and high-calibre scholars.
